Abstract:
The paper gives an overview about the development activities aiming at next generation of C-band SAR instrument from Copernicus Program: Sentinel-1 Next Generation (S1 NG). One of the main current mission objectives is an increase of the swath width by a factor 5 (w.r.t. S-1) while maintaining the same geometric resolution and sensitivity (NESZ). The higher performance level is achieved by implementation of Digital Beamforming (DBF) as an extension to the conventional phased-array system.
