Abstract:
This paper presents first 3D imaging results of the main radar system of the Radar Warning and Information System for Applications in Disaster Management (RAWIS) which will support in the future search and rescue teams in disaster areas. The main radar of RAWIS is a planar MIMO (Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output) array and consists of 24 transmit and 32 receive elements. For far field conditions 768 independent virtual elements can be synthesized. By using change detection methods, small changes in the scene - like moving debris - can be detected with sub-mm accuracy.
