Abstract:
TanDEM-X data and products prove to be an asset for glaciology in a variety of ways. In addition to using the SAR data to determine ice motion, ice front location, as well as the grounding line of glaciers, the DEM information in particular represents a milestone in glaciology. For many remote glaciers this mission provides accurate and high-resolution elevation information for the first time. Here we present a variety of results showing the utility of TanDEM-X data for glaciology in test sites in Greenland, Patagonia and Antarctica. We use both, SAR data as well as the DEMs provided by DLR.
