Abstract:
SAR is well-suited for wide area monitoring of anthropogenic changes including changes in land cover, detecting new infrastructure, monitoring industrial activities such as mining, and gathering geospatial intelligence. We present several examples of Amplitude Change Detection (ACD) using both pairwise and time series techniques on data from RADARSAT-2, with an emphasis on the Extra-Fine beam mode which provides broad area coverage (125x125 km) at 5m spatial resolution. To process wide areas at scale, data storage and processing can be transitioned to a cloud-based architecture to cope with increasingly large data volumes from current and future sensors.
