Abstract:
Shape, size, structure and orientation of the features cause a shift in the Orientation Angle (OA) of Polarization Ellipse (PE) of the SAR data. The prime focus of this study is to assess the effect of OA compensation in the coherency matrix of Airborne L–Band UAVSAR dataset acquired for Munich area, Germany. Overestimation of volumetric scattering was found more in vegetated regions near Mallertshofer Holz in Kreuzstrabetae, displaying a high response in cross polarization channel. An overall modal angle shift of -0.176deg was computed with a mean angle shift of -16.902deg on performing circular polarization technique on the dataset.
