Abstract:
Remote sensing in building environments is complex due to supporting complicated propagation paths and modes, both to the interior and exterior surfaces of buildings. Here we present the results of novel bistatic SyntheticAperture Radar (SAR) experiments on building walls, discuss the propagation behaviour and demonstrate by an iterative ray tracing model-based optimisation approach, validated by a novel in-situ resonance measurements, the determination of the wall electrical properties, remotely. Good agreement between two methods is obtained using measurements taken in Cranfield’sAntennas and Ground-Based SAR (AGBSAR) laboratory.
