Abstract:
Detecting moving ships of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is a challenging task in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. In this paper, a ship detection method based on wakes features in along-track interferogram (ATI)-SAR systems is proposed. The ship radial velocity and spatial position, acquired by using the Kelvin wave spectrum characteristics and the geometrical relationship between the moving ship and its wake, are utilized to detect the moving ship on the basis of the multilook interferomatric magnitude and phase detections. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method for the low-SNR moving ships.
