Abstract:
MetaSensing is developing a novel, compact, and transportable single-pass interferometric airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) at Ka-band with the dedicated processor capable of providing data for Level-2 retrievals within the framework of a project for the European Space Agency (KaSAR). The main objective of the KaSAR instrument is to mimic and emulate a satellite instrument, keeping in mind observation parameters which can be scaled to a potential satellite mission in future Earth Explorer programs. The system will be used to exploit the advantages of mm-wavelength technology for Earth Observation in different applications. This paper deals with the system design, instrument performance, processor, and a preliminary test campaign preparation.
