Abstract:
The increasingly rich and diverse portfolio of sensors and application domains, e.g., Industry 4.0 and general intelligent systems, requires flexible, increasingly generic, accurate, and long-term dependable integrated electronics realizations. For this aim, Eigen-X or Self-X capabilities, e.g., from Self-monitoring to Self-healing, have to be effectively introduced by local sensing and actuation loops on the integrated electronics level. Additionally, the design and operation of intelligent systems for the regarded applications as well as for underlying sensor and system health (condition monitoring) demands for advanced machine learning and hierarchical Self-X architectures, e.g., inspired by immune systems. This paper introduces to this intriguing field and the related integrated sensor Self-X electronics in hierarchical and modular Self-X application systems.
