Abstract:
Non-destructive testing can help to detect hidden defects in materials and components before and during their operation to avoid unforeseen failure. Especially safety relevant components can be tested in regular inspections to prevent from accidents involving endangerment of human life and serious material damage. In this study a motion induced eddy current testing (MIECT) system is introduced, which has the capability to be used as a portable MIECT system to inspect materials at a local position. In order to prove the system’s ability for defect detection, measurements for two different specimen scenarios are performed. The study on the alignment angle is carried out to obtain a better understanding of the system.
