Abstract:
We present a printed temperature sensor for state of health measurement of an automotive battery. The sensor is printed on a PCB close to the cylindrical lithium-ion battery and the battery connection. With our solution, the temperature is detected more precise than conventional placed temperature sensors. A real-time temperature measurement during discharging is compared with a NTC placed on the battery connection for validation of a precise temperature measurement. This improves the safety, aging and temperature range of the battery. A cost-efficient screen-printed sensor with a good TCR was found and placed in an automotive lithium-ion battery pack.
