Abstract:
Augmenting network resilience is of utmost importance with any telecommunication operator. However, doing it in a cost-efficient way is critical as every effort is made to drive down the cost-per-bit that one spends. Thus, an approach is needed to use state-of-the-art technology with advanced optimization algorithms to achieve a higher resiliency state but at nominal increase of cost, which is a contradiction in general. The authors explain a disruptive approach that challenges the need for growth of the of the OTN switches, which is known to be unsustainable beyond a certain extent, while exploiting DCI cloud-oriented high capacity muxponders to complement universal OTN switching. Alongside, the authors describe a network clustering algorithm that is key to provide enhanced network resiliency.
