Abstract:
Due to the demographic change and challenging working conditions, European and Asian countries are facing a shortage of qualified nursing staff. Within the government funded project “Service Robotics for Support with Personal Services” (SeRoDi) the “Robotic Service Assistant” is introduced as an expedient for the arising problems. It will support the nurses at nursing homes by supplying the residents with drinks and snacks. The system stores up to 28 drinks or snacks and can be restocked easily by the nursing home staff. The robot can operate autonomously while enabling the nurses to control the robot at all times using an electronic handheld device.
