Abstract:
In Release 15, new radio (NR) type II channel state information (CSI) feedback is promising significant performance gain over legacy long term evolution (LTE) codebooks, with more than 30% throughput enhancement in some cases. However, this gain comes at the expense of a significant increase in uplink (UL) overhead. That is why in Release 16 overhead reduction of existing Type II CSI is studied. In this work, we present results for overhead reduction of type II CSI using frequency domain compression. We also compare the performance against a simple extension of type II CSI that uses frequency domain interpolation.
