Abstract:
This paper proposes a new architecture for an envisioned future CO2-neutral, power-electronics-based, decentralized hybrid and multimodal AC-DC-power system. The suggested structure aims to reduce the complexity of coordinating a very high number of flexible, decentralized generators, loads, and storage devices in such a way that the security and stability of the whole system can be guaranteed. To this end, the smart power cell concept is introduced, which forms the core element of the suggested architecture and enables the simplification and decentralization of the overall power system control task.
