Abstract:
Recently, model reduction has been an essential analytical method for large-scale energy systems. With the increasing use of inverters in distribution grids, the structure of grids is getting more and more complex. To be able to supply the electrical energy generated by regenerative energy plants into the power grid, however, inverters are required. The increasing number of inverters in the distribution grid is impacting grid stability. With the reduction process, a new model for inverter-dominated grids is created so as to achieve an efficient grid model. By retaining the input-output properties of the networks, the reduced grid model is suitable for the analysis of small signal stability. Correspondingly, the stability boundary of a converter-dominant distribution grid is investigated with regard to the interaction of the parameters in the grid.
