Abstract:
The increasing share of fluctuating power generation, as well as closer interconnection of the European electricity markets, lead to a higher utilisation of the grid infrastructure in both Germany and Europe. Costly market interventions have become necessary to maintain system security. In the long run, these costs can be reduced by optimising, reinforcing and extending the current grid infrastructure. However, temporary attenuations during the restructuring phases, in particular during already critical situations, have to be managed properly. Therefore, a method for evaluating the feasibility of planned outages is presented in this paper. Thereby, both expected costs and obstructions to a planned imple-mentation are to be assessed. In order to be able to examine possible long-term countermeasures at an early stage of project development, the period for revision and outage planning is extended to a time horizon of several years. The relevant uncertainties are to be reduced by a cyclical application of the process. Hence, the assessment process and the data preparation process must be automated.
