Abstract:
Distribution system operators are facing challenges due to the increasing integration of renewable generation and expect a high growth of electrical storage systems in the coming years. Depending on the operation mode of the storage systems, they can be operated in a grid-friendly manner or lead to an increase in the grid load. Therefore network planning procedures, that take into account the effects of storage systems including their control strategy, are necessary for the systematic evaluation of the effects of storage integration. This paper compares two storage system control strategies within the framework of an automated network planning approach for a medium voltage and a high voltage grid.
