Abstract:
The use of a digital resolution enhancer is analyzed in the context of realistic digital-to-analog converters. The digital resolution enhancer shows most promise in applications requiring low resolution converters, where the effective resolution is dominated by deterministic quantization noise. For applications requiring high DAC resolution, stochastic noise sources reduce the effectiveness of this technique.
