Abstract:
We have experimentally investigated inter mode group coupling at connections between OM4-type graded index multi mode fibers by introducing a defined transverse offset between the two connectors. The measurements are performed by recording the power transfer matrix using a pair of mode multiplexers, supporting 15 modes. Our results indicate that mode group depending attenuation at fiber connections is increasing with the mode group order.
