Abstract:
Working towards industrial digitalization, data collection and sensor feedback becomes crucial for optimizing the value of a production line and minimizing downtimes and production errors. Yet setting up a system that meets the needs of a manufacturer is a resource costly process that in most cases is attached to a complete restructuring of the production line. In this paper we describe a multi-sensor network system that is modular and low-cost and is easy to integrate into an existing production line. The developed platform can be used both to better understand how to digitalize the production line and it can be integrated directly into the assembly line. It makes use of event based sensor algorithms to detect production steps, by using multiple sensor inputs. The system was tested using a manual assembly process with multiple components being built and moved to the logistic department.
