Abstract:
We present a novel approach for vibration energy harvesting at multiple operating frequencies combined with autonomous adaption of its resonant modes to dominant frequencies. For this purpose we propose magnetic actuation for frequency tuning. We provide extensive characterization results on tunability of our dual-frequency design. The self-adaptability is demonstrated through a system-level simulation, which integrates the dual-frequency harvester model, the power management circuitry, the magnetic tuning mechanism and the tuning algorithm. Furthermore, we present a feasibility study for a novel reluctance-based energy-efficient tuning scheme.
