Abstract:
Wide-bandgap materials are subject of research since several years. The fast switching speed lowers the switching losses but increases EMI and stresses the windings of electric motors. To benefit from both low losses and low EMI as well as preserving motor windings lifetime, a SiC halfbridge module with an integrated active snubber is combined with an actively driven du=dt filter in this work. The integrated active snubber enables very fast switching speeds by a strong decrease in turn-on and turn-off losses while ensuring a low voltage overshoot and reduced ringing at the same time. Actively driving the filter reduces the voltage slopes and leads to lower switching losses as compared to a conventional IGBT setup without filter.
