Abstract:
Noise evaluation is essential for power electronics equipment because of the electromagnetic interference it generates through the switching of the power devices. However, conventional electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests require the equipment to operate continuously, so that the noise generated cannot be evaluated until the final stages of development. This delays EMI countermeasures and thus a measurement system that can evaluate noise at an early stage of develop-ment is required. In this paper, we propose a double-pulse noise evaluation method of measuring the noise that avoids continuous operation of the equipment. The system we developed allowed us to identify the noise generated by a power module and capacitor of the type used in in-vehicle inverters.
