Abstract:
As discussed at previous conferences, a novel reprocessing technique for spotlight-mode SAR data allows us to produce a short video-like series of images in which moving wave patterns become visible. Using a spectral filter based on the theoretical dispersion relation of ocean waves, we can remove contributions that do not behave like ocean waves and reduce the remaining signatures to sinusoidal wave patterns that can be inverted into surface slopes and surface elevations much more easily than with traditional wave retrieval techniques for SAR. This presentation will focus on water depth estimates that are obtained as byproduct of the process.
