Abstract:
In this work, a new type of brushless harmonic-excited wound-rotor synchronous machine without any auxiliary windings is investigated in the torque-speed range. The general idea of the machine concept is to arrange the existing machine windings in parallel paths so that the MMF of two consecutive poles can be reversed. Thus, an additional airgap field can be injected which inductively excites the rotor field coil. This allows modelling the machine as two independent machines, one for torque-production and one for harmonic excitation. As DC link voltage is required to feed the excitation machine, a detailed analysis of the voltage demand is performed in this work. Furthermore, the control algorithm of the entire machine is discussed and analyzed with a dynamic model.
