Abstract:
In this work, we investigate the performance of maximum likelihood detectors for a recently proposed noncoherent multi-resolution Grassmannian broadcasting scheme, in which a number of data streams are superimposed using a nested Grassmannian product codebook construction. Specifically, we derive bounds on the symbol error probability of these detectors, generalizing existing results for single-stream noncoherent Grassmannian broadcasting. Based on these bounds, we furthermore propose a numerical sub-codebook optimization strategy that facilitates trading-off the reliability of the individual sub-streams of the multi-resolution transmission. We investigate the performance of the proposed schemes by means of simulations of the symbol error ratio and the achievable data rate.
