Abstract:
Fraunhofer FHR has developed over the last years a satellite based passive radar system called SABBIA for ISAR imaging purposes. The successful deployment of SABBIA for passive ISAR imaging and drone detection has been reported in several works. To further improve the detection and imaging capabilities of this system, a completely new hardware and software setup is currently under development. The main goal of the new SABBIA 2.0 is to enable passive ISAR imaging from moving platforms, such as ships, and also detection of small targets such as drones. To enable this, stringent automatic antenna steering requirements to track the satellite position are mandatory. In this paper, we describe the architecture of the new SABBIA 2.0 system setup.
