Abstract:
Low efficiency and a short lifetime are severe problems for ultrasonic motors, caused by frictional loss and abrasion. To overcome these shortcomings, we focused on the elasticity of the rotor. First, we theoretically analyzed driving characteristics, such as rotation speed and driving efficiency, using a frictional contact and equivalent circuit models. Accord-ing to these simulations, the elasticity of the rotor can modify driving characteristics such as rotation speed and efficiency. To confirm this result, experimental measurements with four manufactured rotors were carried out, and we obtained measurement results that agreed with the simulation.
