Abstract:
Due to the growing challenges in the operation of the German transmission system, the importance of dynamic stability analysis in operational management is on the rise. One tool for these assessments are dynamic security calculations, which are usually focused on the specific control area of the transmission system operator. Network data and measured values of the adjacent control areas – the surrounding grid areas – are only available to a limited extent. Based on this, the paper examines different modeling parameters of synchronous machines in the European transmission grid to represent the oscillatory characteristics for a possible equivalent surrounding grid model. To achieve a valid dynamic behavior of the surrounding grid areas, this paper focuses identifying the influences of parameters to be adjusted. Based on the results, the surrounding areas of the grid are divided into distinct types: “distant surrounding grid areas” and “near grid areas”
