Abstract:
In recent years, the global market for light sensors has been expanding as smartphones, tablets, and other consumer electronics products have come to be equipped with light sensor functions. However, the current light sensors only measure the entire space, and the measurement of illuminance at arbitrary locations, such as on leaves in a farm, has become a challenge. Therefore, this study proposes a new illuminance sensing method using camera images. Therefore, we propose a method to measure illuminance using image processing. As a result, we found that there is a strong correlation between illuminance and color image’s brightness (V) in the HSV color space. This makes it possible to estimate the illuminance from the color image of objects.
