Accuracies/Repeatabilities of Airborne (C)MUT Characterization

Abstract:
This study investigates the accuracies of a measurement setup for airborne high-frequency micromachined ultrasonic transducers. Using additive manufacturing, we designed and fabricated different apertures to improve local resolution and evaluate their effect on sound pressure and directional patterns. The results show that while apertures significantly improve the resolution, they also attenuate the measurement signal, requiring a trade-off between resolution and signal strength.
