              Abstract:
Frequency scanning (f-SCAN) technique can achieve superior synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system performance but leads to a significantly increased data volume. A data sub-sampling algorithm (DSSA) can tackle the problem while ignoring a nonlinear dependence between range frequency and time. To quantitatively evaluate the impact of the nonlinear dependence on the DSSA performance, a detailed analysis is given, and then a new parameter termed a loss factor is proposed. Both analysis and simulation show that the nonlinear dependence leads to a mismatch of the low pass filter (LPF) used in DSSA, further resulting in degraded system performance.
