Abstract:
Submarine optical networks are expected to be operating for decades due to its high implementation costs. Monitoring results with OTDR over 25 years on the Petrobras Campos Basin network are presented, showing ageing effects in fibre attenuation and splices. Monitoring requirements and strategies are discussed.
