Abstract:
Today’s transmission and distribution systems are becoming more and more complex due to increasing numbers of sen-sors and controllable assets. One effect of this increasing complexity is the number of alarms that have to be handled in the control systems. Alarm floods, i.e., time intervals with extremely high frequency of alarms are a challenge for opera-tors. In this paper different methods for clustering alarm floods in power systems are investigated in order to group alarm floods into clusters with the same purpose. The methods are tested on real alarm lists from different power system entities.
