Abstract:
Abstract In this publication, we introduce a methodology for power system planning that considers multiple objectives. This methodology was developed within the research project “ANaPlan Plus” which aimed to identify optimization potentials in the area of energy grids through new degrees of freedom from a cross-divisional and cross-sectoral perspective[1]. The proposed grid planning method employs optimization methods suitable for multi-criteria decision support such as genetic algorithms to identify multiple Pareto front solutions for grid reinforcement and expansion problems. The criteria considered include economic costs, social or ecological impacts and reliability, with reliability represented by a simplified calculation of ASIDI. The approach has been tested on the medium-voltage Oberrhein grid from pandapower [2], a generic network assembled from publicly available data, supplemented with experience-based parameters [3]. Additionally, while not currently implemented, the presented approach would make it possible to include further criteria in the future, such as resource availability and capacity planning for the identified expansion and reinforcement measures.
