Abstract:
This work presents a holistic approach to the design and optimization of power electronic systems, particularly when faced with limited data availability. The program is composed of two subprograms, whereby the macro tool handles the fundamental design of key components such as switches, inductors, and capacitors. The optimization algorithms are in a way designed, that they work with a limited data base to unsure maximum flexibility and ease of use. In the micro tool, an easy to use and fast method to extract parasitic elements from the design files of printed circuit boards, and a method for modeling real measurements of inductive components to simulate them in transient SPICE simulations, is introduced. This allows for an efficient design of the switching power supply during the early design phase, leading to significant time savings in the overall development process. Both tools consolidate the expertise of senior developers and eases the entry for newer engineers into the field of power electronics.
