Abstract:
While moving towards renewable energy, it is crucial to have a future-oriented perspective for operating the power system. One of the methods is the power system operation with voltage angle-based control. In this method, the balancing power is provided depending on the electrical distance to the location of the load change. There is no secondary control to restore the exchanged power between the control zones to the setpoint value and to release the primary reserve. However, in this paper, the control loop of the control zone balance control in case of angle-based control is created analogously to the secondary control in case of load frequency control. A study case is carried out on the 39 bus New England system. The grid modelling and RMS simulation are performed in the software DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
