Abstract:
The OpenEnergyTwin platform presents an innovative open-source architecture for digital twins to enhance the operation of multimodal energy systems. By enabling secure, event-driven operations and integrating edge computing with hierarchical digital twins, the platform will facilitate realtime responses to operational events and supports decentralized, partially autonomous service management. Its modular architecture will allow for dynamic instantiation of subsystems on edge devices, while standardized protocols streamline data exchange between operational technology and grid management services. With a focus on user-centred design, the platform will also incorporate modern human-machine interfaces and assistance systems to aid operational personnel in navigating the complexities of energy management. The OpenEnergyTwin aims to revolutionize operation of power systems and foster collaboration between industry and research, ultimately contributing to a more resilient and efficient energy ecosystem.
