Abstract:
In the electromagnetic optimisation of electric machines based on metamodels, the examined designs are no longer built and calculated using finite element software (FE). Therefore, the geometric validity of the optimised designs can only be checked without further measures during the subsequent validation. The unconstrained, high-dimensional design space leads to a large number of supposedly optimal but invalid designs, making the results of the optimisation unusable. In order to be able to describe the geometric state of the designs during optimisation, this paper presents an analytical approach in which points and lines of the machine template are related to each other to prevent intersections and overlaps and to ensure the geometric validity.
