Abstract:
Field-Effect Transistor Thermal Converters use FET heaters working as dynamically controllable impedances and allow the multiplication of alternating quantities to be made with measurement uncertainties of some parts in 106. The device represents a milestone in highly accurate measurements of effective values (or root-mean-square - rms values) and product (correlation) of two ac quantities and can be used in rms detectors, a variety of precision scientific instrumentation such as digital multimeters, high frequency gain control, power and noise measurement, and phase detection.
