Abstract:
This paper discuses the use of continuous time σ δ modulators as readout circuits for a hall sensor. The advantages of using a continuous time Σ-Δ A/D converter are their low power requirements and their implicit anti-aliasing filter. The architecture of the Σ-Δ A/D converter, the mentioned advantages as well as the requirements on the used components will be treated. The design of the hall sensor and its mathematical treatment will be presented. Measurement results of the system indicate that a Hall sensor signal can be very well converted using a σ δ A/D converter.
