Abstract:
Mobile and wireless technology has attained a great penetration in the market during recent years. In parallel, the need to deliver media content to a great variance of mobile and wireless devices is delineated as the indisputable future trend. This paper presents the Enamorado architecture that provides advances towards reconfiguration capabilities in both software and hardware, decoupling the development of new mobile devices from the advance in new content formats. Particularly, an intelligent decision system is presented, which selects the most appropriate content format in terms of device limitations, end-user preferences, current network conditions, request arrival rate and the reconfiguration overhead, aiming at maximizing the number of admitted users without compromising the user’s quality standards. An extended number of simulation scenarios exploit the performance of the decision algorithm under different set of configuration parameters and network conditions.
