Abstract:
This work concerns dynamic inter-operator spectrum sharing for the UMTS FDD system where each operator deploys his own independent radio access network. The performance of spectrum sharing in the worst case (i.e. equal capacity demands from participating operators) is studied by simulations for the downlink, considering as well the possible relative spatial offsets between the operators’ RANs. We also derive a theoretical queuing model suitable to be applied for sharing scenarios. We show that the partial sharing policy provides better performance than the full sharing policy, which is in contrast with the developed theoretical model, because the model does not account for the inter-operator mutual interference.
