Abstract:
The paper reports on the results of an industrial research project that was dedicated to the development of an embedded platform for multimodal automotive applications. We describe the system architecture and application components, and concentrate on those aspects that are generalisable and address the issue of building end-device independent multimodal applications in general and for mobility services, in particular. We argue that only a trade-off between scientific models for multimodal interaction developed in core research projects, on the one hand, and the requirements for ease of development and reusability of application components, on the other, will yield technology that has a potential for further being developed towards a competitive product.
