Abstract:
This study looks at potentials for integrating Identity Management (IdM) with AAA (Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting) systems found in carrier’s infrastructures, and analyse technological and business consequences of such integration. We focus on the role of IdM and AAA, as enabling services for third party service provisioning. We outline skeleton service scenarios and simplified architectures, and analyse them against various IdM and AAA approaches. This paper discusses also the business potentials for Telcos (suggesting several business models) and technical challenges of combined IdM/AAA architectures, supporting above-mentioned service scenarios. Finally we recommend the necessary business activities for emergence of the new group of added value services, the converged IdM/AAA enabling services. This proposed road map would ensure the Telcos a strong business role in the new field.
