Abstract:
The ability of impulse radio to resolve a large number of multipaths in a dense frequency selective channel suggests only a marginal improvement in performance by the use of multiple antennas from a diversity perspective. Furthermore, the small size of UWB receivers for in-home or sensor networking would result in a very high correlation among antenna elements, reducing even more the exploitable diversity. Therefore, we concentrate on the use of multiple antennas for interference suppression. Specifically, we investigate the performance of a quadrature receiver for impulse radio systems with multiple receive antennas and minimum-mean-square-error beamforming to combat interference.
