Abstract:
A foil-based BioMEMS for electrochemical capillary immunoassays in hepatitis serology is presented. The quantification of anti-hepatitis B antibodies in human serum (titer) is important for the proof of a successful vaccination against the disease (immunization status). The application is realized by implementing a sandwich immunoassay into a capillary, in which antibodies (IgGs) against hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs-Ag) are specifically determined. The detection is carried out electrochemically [see Figure 1]. The assay is very sensitive and designed to differentiate between hepatitis-IgG negative serum (< 10 U/L) and positive serum (?? 100 U/L).
