Abstract:
Though sliding spotlight scheme alleviates the limitation of azimuth extent by conventional spotlight mapping operation, the azimuth enhancement is not still very large limited to 5-10 km. Two major difficulties are encountered when one tries to increase the azimuth extent to around 100 km. They are: large range cell migration (RCM) and rapidly changing Doppler rate along azimuth. The present paper describes a scheme for increasing the azimuth block size by processing the spotlight data even in the presence of linearly drifting Doppler rate within the same block. Thereby the computational efficiency is enhanced.
