Abstract:
LORAM 2004 is a joint data collection conducted using the airborne radar CARABAS (FOI, Sweden) and RAMSES (ONERA, France) in northern Sweden in October, 2004. The data collection were planned and conducted so that a great variety of configurations could be obtained (multi frequency, polarimetry, interferometry, different target deployments for change detection). The aim of this campaign is to evaluate different technique performances and to combine them in order to improve the detection under foliage. In this paper, a subset of 6 polarimetric images from two flight missions of RAMSES at P-band are analyzed. Each flight corresponds to a different target deployment. The data set can be used to compare all detection tool performances: POLINSAR tools are investigated using the usual random volume model filtering, as well as change detection methods using two different flights generalized to full polarimetric data. Finally, a circular flight trajectory enables to analyze the polarimetric data over all possible look angles and to evaluate detection performances.
